Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite electrical contact material with improved contact performance such as melt-sticking resistance by adding a specified amount of Cd and Ga to Ag.
CONSTITUTION: To Ag are added 0.5W20wt% Cd and 0.01W10wt% Ga or further added 0.01W2wt% one or more kinds of iron group elements such as Ni and Fe. The resulting alloy is internally oxidized in an oxygen atmosphere to obtain a composite electrical contact material. When this material is worked into contacts, oxide is sublimed from the surfaces of the contacts, and a temp. rise in the vicinity of the surfaces is inhibited to provide high melt-sticking resistance. In addition, the contact resistance is kept low and stable.
