Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a contact material with superior melt sticking and consumption resistance by adding a specified amount of zinc oxide and indium oxide to silver matrix.
CONSTITUTION: The zinc oxide and indium oxide contents of a contact material contg. zinc oxide and indium oxide in silver matrix are adjusted to 1W5wt% as zinc and 0.5W3.0wt% as indium to the amount of the silver, respectively. This contact material is manufactured by internally oxidizing an alloy consisting of 1W 5% Zn, 0.5W3.0% In, ≤1% one or more iron group elements such as Fe, Ni and Co and the balance Ag. The iron group elements prevent the grains from being grown to coarse grains by heating due to the internal oxidation. Thus, the resulting contact material has superior melt sticking and consumption resistance and superior arc suppressing performance.
