Abstract
PURPOSE:To perfectly prevent gas explosion by blowing an inert gas at the time when the in-furnace charges are reduced down to the blast tuyere level at the time of blowing out the blast furnace. When the contents decrease down to the blast tuyere level, an inert gas, for example, nitrogen gas, is fed through blast tuyeres. Blowing-out is carried out after the H2, CO, O2 in the furnace have been diluted until their respective values attain the outside of the explosion ranges, thence the blast tuyeres or inspection windows are opened to perform substitution with air. Thereby, gas explosion is perfectly prevented.
