PURPOSE:To prevent damage to charger by dust present in blast furnace gas coming from a lower bell-hopper by compensating for the reduced pressure inside a upper bell-hopper during the charging period of raw materials by providing a clean gas tube of nitrogen gas, etc., to the upper bell-hopper of a bell-type charger in a blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:In charging raw materials into the blast furnace with a two-bell type raw materials charger, the pressures of the upper bell hopper 3, the lower bell hopper 5, and a blast furnace 7 are equalized orderly. When the raw material A in the upper bell hopper 3 is brought down through an upper bell 4 to a lower bell hopper 5, the volume of the raw material A in the upper bell hopper 3 is zeroed and the pressure of the upper bell hopper 3 is made lower (negative) than that of the lower bell hopper 5, whereby the blast furnace gas abruptly goes up in space 4a between the upper bell 4 and the hopper to wear the equipment by dust present in the gas. Thereupon, a clean N2 gas is introduced through a pipe 20 from a nitrogen bomb into the upper bell hopper 3 to equalize its pressure with that of the lower bell hopper 5. Thus, wearing of the equipment by the passing of the blast furnace gas can be prevented.
