Abstract

1303440 Charging bells for blast furnaces IMPERIAL SMELTING CORP (NSC) Ltd 9 Nov 1970 [12 Dec 1969] 60727/69 Heading F4B Apparatus for ensuring even distribution of charge material from a hopper to a blast furnace comprises a bell valve 2 and an annular distributer 4 adapted to close the hopper and operated by rods or chains 3 and 5, with a distributer cone 6 attached to the annular distributer by stays 7 spaced at 120 degree intervals. The cone may be made vertically movable independently of the distributer 4 or the bell 2. Either or both of said bell and distributer may be formed with cooling water channels fed by pipes incorporated in or attached to the stays.
