A bell for a blast furnace charging apparatus comprises a main part 1 to which segment-like filler or extension pieces 2 are secured in situ to diametrically opposite sides of the bell, as shown. The segment pieces 2 are provided with projections which are received in grooves in the main part 1 and with fastening bolts 4.
