1,018,690. Blast furnace charging devices. BETEELIGUNGSUND PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 26, 1964 [Nov. 27, 1963], No. 48167/64. Heading F4B. Throat armour for a shaft furnace comprises armour segments 2 suspended from brackets 1 at pivots B, these brackets 1 being pivoted at A to the top of the furnace and at C to links 5 attached to a ring 6. By raising or lowering the ring 6 by rams 7 the throat diameter may be adjusted. The armour segments 2 are free to pivot about B, but the arc through which they may swing is restricted by an annular ring 8 attached to the furnace wall.
