Abstract

1322798 Charging shaft furnaces DES ANCIENS ETABS PAUL WURTH SA 16 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 34423/70 Heading F4B Charge material for a blast furnace is delivered by a shoot 13 to a distributer 15 from either of hoppers 2, 2<SP>1</SP>. The distributer 15 is rotatable and angularly adjustable, and the hoppers 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and the shoot 13 and distributer 15 together with its drive 14 are readily removable by releasing flange joints 22, 23. Change level sensors 17 may be arranged at different radii within the furnace roof, and pressurizing or purging gas may be supplied to the hoppers 2, 21 through connections 8, 8<SP>1</SP>. The rotation and swinging movement of the distributer 15 are produced by rotating two sleeves surrounding the shoot 13, one of which carries the distributer 15, and the other having an arcuate slot in which runs a roller connected to an adjusting rod for the angular position of the distributer. The sleeves are driven together or at different speeds, any relative movement of the sleeves moving the roller in its slot to vary the inclination of the distributer 15. The single distributer may be replaced by a double distributer 61, Fig. 4 The distributer 61 is carried by a rotatable sleeve 66 passing centrally through the shoot 63, and an hydraulically actuated rod 67 adjusts the angle of the leaves of the distributer 61.
