Abstract

1300350 Blast furnace charging devices NIPPON STEEL CORP 19 April 1971 [9 April 1970] 26291/71 Heading F4B Adjustable blast furnace throat armour and charge distributers comprise overlapping plates 32 fixed to or integral with levers 33 mounted on shafts 35 in boxes 14 attached as by bolts 15 to projections 12 extending from the furnace shell, said shafts being rotated by linkages 47, 49 to a ring 44 extending around the furnace and actuated by three hydraulic motors 42 disposed symmetrically of the ring. The latter may be divided into segments (44a, 44b and 44c, Fig. 8). The shafts 35 may also be driven by electric motors (51, Fig. 7) either directly or through reduction gearing (52). Each plate 32 may hang freely from its lever 33 by a single pivot (53, Fig. 9).
