Abstract
1,177,333. Blast furnace charging devices. FRIED. KRUPP G.m.b.H. 20 March, 1968 [21 March, 1967; 17 Feb., 1968], No. 13490/68. Addition to 1,018,690. Heading F4B. The adjustable blast furnace throat-armour of the parent Specification 1,018,690, is modified by having the overlapping segments 3 supported by suspension links 5 which are in vertical alignment with the segments when the segments are in their mean position. Levers 18, which form with the links 5 bell cranks 19 about shafts 17, are connected to an adjusting ring 21. Vertical displacement of the ring 21 by motors 23 varies the diameter of the throatarmour as required. Stops 25 carried by the segments 3 coact with stop rods 27 to prevent excessive outward swinging of the segments. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 5, not shown) adjusting rods (38) connected to the pivot points (31) at which the segments are joined to the suspension links extend outwardly through the shell of the furnace to be connected to an adjusting mechanism, and the upper ends of the suspension links are pivoted to fixed brackets (33) on the shell of the furnace.
