Abstract
1278709 Charging shaft furnaces DEMAG AG 2 Sept 1970 [17 Sept 1969] 41985/70 Heading F4B Charging equipment for a shaft furnace comprises a storage hopper 6 feeding charge material through a frusto-conical movable distribution shoot 8 and a double valve arrangement into a bell hopper 2, the double valve arrangement comprising a gate valve 15, 16 whose individual gates are actuated by pivotally mounted fluid motors 23 and a sealing disc 27 mounted by a ball joint 28 on a crank (29, Fig. 2) rotatable by another fluid motor into a recess in the bell hopper (Fig. 2) clear of the charge material path. The gate valve and sealing disc are operated in timed sequence. The shoot 8 is movable sideways by rams 9 within an upper extension 7 of the bell hopper formed by flanged rings 3, 4 and 5, disc 27 seating on the ring 3. Hopper 2 has a bell valve 14 actuated by rods 35, 36 as in Specification 1,278,408.
