Abstract

1351960 Superposed hearth furnaces; drying falling materials KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDTDEUTZ AG 17 Sept 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 43511/71 Headings F4B and F4G In a superposed hearth furnace 1 having a rotatable hollow shaft 6 carrying rabble arms 7, the charging device comprises a screw conveyer 15 feeding a shoot 17 through an inlet tube 16, said shoot extending down and through the shaft 6 to deposit charge material on the uppermost hearth 2. A water or sand seal 18 prevents leakages between the tube 16 and shoot 17 and similar seals 10 and 11 are provided between the furnace roof 9 and the shaft 6. The shoot 17 may be branched to serve several hearths. The furnace may be used for drying, firing, reducing or roasting granular or sludgy materials. (For Figure see next column.)
