Abstract
944,796. Feeding a plurality of shoots. NORTON CO. Jan. 25, 1962 [April 20, 1961], No. 2799/62. Heading B85. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for evenly charging an electric smelting furnace with a mixture of ore and reducing agent comprises a pair of counterweighted bucket valves 36, each fed by a vibratory shoot 54 and each supplying two shoots 70 having pivotally mounted deflectors 74. Each valve 36, Fig. 6, is pivotally mounted in a casing 24 having an extension 60 supporting the shoot 54 and is divided into two pockets by a wall 46, the load delivered by each pocket in turn being varied by the counterweight 86, slidably mounted on a rod fixed to the valve trunnion. The shoots 54 are fed by pipes 62 from a hopper 68. The deflectors 74, Fig. 4, are pivotally mounted on the shoots 70 and are adjustable through a pin 80 in ears 78 engaging notches in a bar 82.
