Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide means to eliminate the vibrations due to both the pitching and yawing moments in a balancer device for a 3-cylinder reciprocating engine by attaching a balance gear to the crank shaft and adding or removing predetermined weights to or from the reciprocating member thereof. CONSTITUTION:Three crank pins 21-23 are formed on a crank shaft 1 at 120 deg. intervals with balance weight 51-52 attached to the respective pins 21-23 about 180 deg. opposite of the pins. In such 3-cylinder 120 deg. crank type engine, the balance weights 51-53 are set at about 100% balance. A balance gear 6 with an eccentric weight 6a attached thereto is fixed to one end of the crank shaft 1, said gear 6 being engaged to a balance gear 7 with an eccentric weight 7a similarly attached thereto. Predetermined weights 82 and 83 are attached to the second and third pistons 42 and 43 respectively, the weights thereof generating couples of forces which cancel out the pitching moments due to the pistons.
