Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent stress from concentrating on a crank arm part by a method wherein a relief part is provided on the end part of a balance weight on the opposite side of a crank pin which is arranged continnously to a crank arm so that a concave part can be worked by the use of the said relief part at the connecting part between the crank arm and the crank pin.
CONSTITUTION: On the crank shaft, a pair of crank arms 2, 2 are arranged continuously with journals 1, 1, a pair of arms 2, 2 are connected mutually by a crank pin 3 and a balance weight 4 is arranged continuously on their oppsoite side. At this time, the relief part 5 is provided by machining after cast-molding or casting on the opposite ends of the balance weights 4, 4. At the connecting place between the crank pin 3 and the crank arm 2, a concave part 7 is formed by impression work by a straight push rod through the relief part 5 and the tensile stress to the arm 2 near the connecting place can be released from concentrating. Moreover, a concave part 8 is provided in the crank pin 3 in order to restrain the unbalance due to the relief part 5.
