CONSTITUTION:Two sets of projecting means 10 consisting of projector 12 including the laser source such as argon or helium-neon, generator, prism, lens, etc., and oscillating mirror 16 making the laser light from projector 12 reach the light receiving face are arranged. And the lens systems thereof are made different, and further, the spot diameters on the sheet type material surface (the width of scanning line) are made two ranges such as 0.2-0.8mm. and 1.3-2mm.. Herewith, when a sheet type material of light penetrating quality is made to run under light projecting means 10, the light spot is projected to this sheet type material through the flying spot scanning system and that penetrating light is received with light receiving means 20, then, the micro defects of the sheet type material such as the total number of the spot type defects of the sheet type material and the number of decomposed foreign substances can be separated and identified in details.
