Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a continuous monitor with high accuracy and a low cost for the bead cut form at the welded part on the inner surface of an electric welded tube, by periodically irradiating an edge beam to the cut surface and observing the form of a bright line from the direction different from the beam irradiating direction. CONSTITUTION:A strobe light source 22 projects an edge beam periodically to a cut surface of an electric welded tube 10 through a control part 32 via a screen lens 24 having a knife edge and a lens 26. A video picture signal is sent to a memory 30 from a TV camera 28 synchronously with the projection of the edge beam and then delivered to a display device 3 for the purpose of the monitoring. In such way, the continuous monitor is possible with high accuracy and a low cost.
