Abstract
PURPOSE:To hide particles attached on a substrate for a image pick-up tube and thus to obtain with a high production yield electrically conductive films free of light absorption and interference, by applying onto the photoelectric conversion surface- forming surface of a substrate a transparent glass material having a refractive index substantially equal to that of the substrate, so as to form a thin glass film. CONSTITUTION:After cleaning a substrate, a glass film consisting of a transparent glass material such as silica glass which has substantially the same refractive index as the substrate, does not impart any color and enjoys a tight adherence is formed on the transparent electrode forming surface of the substrate to a thickness sufficient to obtain enough hiding effect, for example, about 50mum or thicker in accordance with the high frequency sputtering method. Subsequent to hiding minute particles attached on the substrate by the glass film, a transparent conductive film is formed by the sputtering method. In such a manner as mentioned above, transparent conductive films completely free of light absorption and interference can be obtained with a high production yield.
