Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the Ti streak causing surface defects of a Ti-contg. austenitic of ferritic stainless steel by adjusting the Ti content of the steel, the relation between the Ti and N contents and the ratio of the Ti to A content.
CONSTITUTION: The components of an austenitic stainless steel contg. 17W20% Cr, 9W14% Ni, ≤2% Mo, ≤0.1% C, ≤1.0%Si, ≤2% Mn, 0.1W0.5% Ti and <0.1% Al are adjusted so that the value of [%Ti]/[%Al] becomes 5W30 and the relation of [%Ti]1.3.[%N]≤3.7×10-3 is satisfied. On the other hand, the components of a ferritic stainless steel contg. 10W25% Cr, ≤3% Mo, <0.12% C, <0.75% Si, <1.0% Mn, 0.1W 0.5% Ti and <0.1% Al are adjusted so that the relation of [%Ti]1.3.[%N]≤4×10-3 is satisfied. Thus, the Ti streak causing surface defects of the steel are eliminated, and steel products with superior surface properties can be manufactured.
