Abstract

PURPOSE:To bring the operation speed of a frequency divider close to that of FF constituting a fixed frequency divider by setting a frequency-division number by a register in which a constant number has been recorded and an accumulator that adds the number of register every time a frequency division output is generated. CONSTITUTION:An input pulse signal of a constant frequency to be frequency- divided is input to input terminal 1 and then applied to fixed frequency divider 3 composed of cascaded FF circuits serving as 1/2 frequency dividers. Output signals of respective stages of FF circuits are sent to coincidence circuit 4 in parallel. Coincidence circuit 4 compares the code of accumulator 5 to the output signal of fixed divider 3 and, when the both agree with each other, sends a frequency- divided output signal to output terminal 2. Accumulator 5 adds the binary code of register 6 stored with a fixed frequency-division number every time the output signal pulse of the coincidence circuit is generated.
