Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the capacity of a control memory by sectioning the control memory into blocks by functions, by generating a signal assigning a block from the read address of the memory and by selectively outputting control information.
CONSTITUTION: Control memory CS101 is sectioned into blocks 101AW101D by functions and CS output selecting selectors 102AW102D that correspond to those memory blocks receive characteristic control signals α, β, γ, and δ to output selectively control information read out corresponding blocks. The outputs of respective selectors are decoded by decoders 103AW103D, whose decoding outputs are received by control logic elements 104AW104D to perform control operation. Consequently, CS101 can be used with efficiency and the amount of decoding can be reduced, so that the capacity of CS can be reduced without entailing deterioration in performance.
