Abstract
PURPOSE:To cope with the change in a code system flexibly, by producing a new state transition variable to an output of a storage device storing a conversion table every time when bits constituting a variable length code are given. CONSTITUTION:A register 5 is reset before the start of analysis of a variable length code. When the first bit of the variable length code is given to a bit input line, an input to an ROM6 is confirmed, and if a variable length code bit input line 7 is at ''0'', ''N0'' is outputted to a state transit variable readout line 8 and if at ''1'', ''N1'' is outputted. The readout line 8 is connected to the input of the register 5 to store the state transit variable to constitute the input waiting state of the 2nd bit. Thus, every input of the variable length bit, based on the previous state transition variable, the state transition variable is decided, alowing to cope with the change in the variable length code system without changing a logical circuit.
