Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a 3-layer clad blank material without inclusion of scum and improve quality by treating the surface of a metal material and immersing the same in molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: Evaporative metals such as Zn, Ca and Mg or compounds such as Ca3N2 and Mg3N2 which thermally decompose and become vapor at high temperature is coated on the surface of a metal material 1 of a plate or cylindrical shape. Next, this metal material 1 is immersed into the molten metal 3 of a vessel 2. After a frozen layer 4 has formed to predetermined thickness on the surface, the metal material 1 is moved upward by a hanger 5 which has beforehand been mounted. Then, the deposition of scum on the surface of the metal material 1 is prevented and the good 3-layer clad blank material is obtained. The similar effect is also obtained by installing the metal material 10 having been adhered with the above-described coating agent into a mold 12 by a hanger 11, pouring molten metal 16 into the mold 12 via its bed plate 13 and molding board 14 from a pouring pipe 15 and moving the metal material 10 upward after the frozen layer 17 has formed.
