Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve corrosion resistance and beauty by carrying out brazing filler metal plating on the surface of a case for watches made of inexpensive metallic blank materials, and subjecting the same to diffusion treatment by heating then carrying out finish plating.
CONSTITUTION: An inexpensive metallic material such as zinc alloy, brass or aluminum alloy is worked by a die casting method, a precision casting method or a powder sintering method, whereby a watch case 1 is made. A plating layer 2 consisting of a brazing filler material such as silver braze plating is carried out on this surface, after which it is heated to form a diffusion layer 1' of superior adhesive strength, whereby the pinholes of the ground metal are sealed. Ordinary plating 2' is carried out thereon, whereby the corrosion resistance and beauty of the watch case are much improved.
