Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head, for use with a heat-sensitive recorder, which has improved abrasion resistance and durability, by a method wherein an electrode is made of other metals than a gold, and the whole exposed surface of the electrode is covered for protection. CONSTITUTION:A heating resistance 2-A is placed on a substrate 1-A, and electrodes 3-A, made of copper, silver, aluminum and the like, are placed thereon. The whole exposed surface of the electrodes 3-A and the heating resistance 2-A are monolithically covered with a protection layer 4-A to form a thermal heat (fig. 1). A numeral 6-A represents a window, through which an external terminal is taken out. A protection layer is formed by an alumite processing method and a method in which an Al compound is formed directly on the surface by the use of N2 gas, boron and the like. Especially in case (fig. 2) the electrode is made of aluminum (alloy), the electrode 3-B and the heating resistance 2-B can also be independently protected by means of protection layers 5-B and 4-B, respectively. EFFECT:The thermal head can be formed at an inexpensive cost.
