Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve durability by forming a protective coating layer on the surface of the outermost shell of a thermistor unit including a thermistor element and metallic posts by electrostatic painting of a powder resin. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrode bodies 2, 3 consisting of Dumet wire are pinched and provided on both faces of a heat sensitive element 1 which consists essentially of a transition metal oxide and has a negative resistance temp. characteristic and are sealed by an enclosure 4 consisting of glass to constitute the thermistor element 5. The element 5 is supported and electrically connected by the metallic posts 6, 7 held upright in parallel by means of base bodies 8 having a heat resistant insulating characteristic. The protective coating layer 9 is formed on the surfaces of the thermistor element 5 and the metallic posts 6, 7 by electrostatic painting of the resin powder having the resistance to heat, water and corrosion as well as insulating characteristic. The durability of the thermistor unit is thus improved.
