Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure such a heating element that effectively shows its positive temperature coefficient characteristic and is excellent in heat radiating validity, electrical insulation and chemical resistance by stacking an electrode layer on a core of barium titanate and a ceramics layer on a surface of the electrode layer, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A core 2 is formed with barium titanate as a main component, and a nickel plating layer 3 is formed on this core 2 as an electrode layer. In addition, a ceramics layer 4 is formed on a surface of the layer 3 by means of coating, and a cover layer 5 made of metal, quartz or the like is installed at need. As for ceramics, high purity alumina excellent in electric insulatingness and heat conductivity is used. A heating element, manufactured like this, effectively shows its characteristic as a positive temperature coefficient PTC heating element, and simultaneously it has such capacity as excellent in heat radiating validity, electrical insulatingness and chemical resistance. Thus the heating element that is yet safer and higher in power savableness is securable.
