Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a material for a valve seat of an internal combustion engine for a car with superior wear resistance at high temp. by dispersing a phase with high heat and corrosion resistances and a phase with high wear resistance to low- speed sliding in a pearlite phase matrix having an impact alleviating action.
CONSTITUTION: This sintered iron alloy is obtd. by dispersing 10W50% phase A with high heat and corrosion resistance and 2W15% ≥1 kinds of 4 kinds of phases B with high wear resistance in a perlite matrix contg. 0.2W1.5% Cu. The phase A consists of 9W20% Cr, 6W15% Ni, 1.5W9.5% Mo, 1.5W9.5% W, 0.7W4.5% Cu and the balance Fe. The phases B are 50W70% Mo-Fe, 50W70% Cr-Fe, 45W 60% Fe-33W36% Mo-Si and 45W60% Co-33W36% Mo-Si. This alloy is manufactured by sintering mixed starting material powder prepared by blending iron powder with a predetermined amount each of C and Cu as well as powderes of alloys for the phases A, B.
