Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a sintered alloy with superior wear resistance at high temp. by mixing two kinds of heat resistant sintered steel powders so that they are present unevenly; sintering the mixt.; and optionally impregnating the pores of the sintered alloy with lead.
CONSTITUTION: Sintered steel A is prepared consisting of Cr 2W4%, Mo 0.2W 0.4%, V 0.2W0.4%, C 0.6W1.2% and the balance Fe, and sintered steel B is separately prepared consisting of Co 5.5W7.5%, Ni 0.5W3%, Mo 0.5W3%, C 0.6W 1.2% and the balance Fe. They are pulverized and mixed so that the steel A part occupies 25W75% and the steel B part 75W25%. Powders of alloys having the compsns. of A and B excepting carbon may be prepared and mixed together with graphite powder. The mixed powder is then sintered. After the sintering, molten lead may be impregnated into the pores of the resulting sintered alloy and solidified. Thus, a sintered alloy suitable for use as a valve-seat material for the internal combustion engine of a car, etc. is obtd.
