Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A kyotorphin derivative of formula I (R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is H or nitro) and a salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: L-Tyrosyl-L-argininol.
USE: An analgesic agent having an agonistic activity in an opiate acceptor and with low toxicity.
PROCESS: A tyrosine derivative of formula II (R3 is a protecting group of the amino group) is reacted with an arginine derivative of formula III (R4 is a protecting group of the carboxyl group) by the usual peptide linkage forming method, e.g. the condensation with DCC, to give a dipeptide of formula IV, which is then reduced with sodium boron hydride to afford a dipeptide of formula V. The protecting group (R3) is then removed from the resultant dipeptide of formula V to give the compound of formula I.
