Abstract
PURPOSE:To form an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor surface, by pressing the photoreceptor formed by covering a photoconductive layer with an insulating layer, and a transparent semiconductor belt with primary and secondary conductive rollers, moving them, and imparting continuous potential distribution along the moving direction. CONSTITUTION:Insulating layer 1c is positively charged with high voltage roller 4 to trap negative charge on the interface between photoconductive layer 1b and insulating layer 1c, and positive charge on layer 1c is removed with low voltage rollers 5, 6 to trap positive charge on the interface between drum 1a and layer 1b. Transparent semiconductive belt is passed between drum 1a and rollers 5, 6 to perform imagewise exposure 13. The negative charge on the interface between layer 1b and layer 1c is eliminated in light L, and the positive charge on drum 1a corresponding to negative charge disappears, and in dark D, part of the positive charge disappears. Then, photoreceptor 1 is uniformly exposed 14, permitting surface potential to be kept constant in light L, the negative charge on layer 1b to disappear in dark D except that corresponding to the positive charge on layer 1c, and the surface potential in dark D to become higher than that in light L, and thus an electrostatic latent image to be formed.
