Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the use efficiency of a hardening gas by providing gas holes with filters in the bottom of a pattern and supplying the hardening gas by an inert gas into the mold through the gas chamber below these in molding the mold by the molding sand mixed with acid-setting resins. CONSTITUTION:Plural gas passage holes with filters 3 are provided to the bottom plate 2 of a pattern, and a hardening gas storage chamber 6 is formed by means of frame materials 4, 5 in the under part thereof. Next, a hardening gas such as SO2 is put into the chamber 6 through a gas lead-in port 7, and after it is stored temporarily therein, an inert gas such as air is put therein through the port 7 under 0.3-3.0kg/cm<2>G pressure, so that the hardening gaseous SO2 is dispersed in the mold to allow the mold to harden. Less amount of the hardening gas is required and the spreading of the harmful hardening gaseous SO2 in the working site does not occur.
