Abstract
1,240,487. Making moulds. C. M. HUTSCHENREUTHER ZAHNFABRIK. 18 July, 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 34376/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C3] A porous mould is made by mixing an inorganic filler of particle size 0À09-0À6 mm. and surface hardness greater than that of plaster of Paris with a binder comprising at least one organic synthetic resin that evolves a gas on curing, the mixture is moulded under pressure to form a mould, and then the synthetic resin(s) is cured, the gas given off thereby rendering the binder porous. The resin may be a phenolic, urea or melamine resin, e.g. a liquid phenolic resol or solid phenolic resin, e.g. novolachexamethylene tetramine, modified melamine or a rezorcinol-formaldehyde resin with an aldehyde hardener. The filler may be quartz sand, felspar and/or alumina. The moulding may be carried out in an hydraulic press.
