Abstract

1,048,284. Moulding building elements. E. SMITS. May 8, 1963 [May 18, 1962; Jan. 24, 1963; April 18, 1963], No. 18230/63. Heading B5A. Building elements are made by mixing together finely-divided organic material, e.g. sawdust or fine wood chips; aluminium silicate, e.g. kaolin, at least one expanded or foamed resin (e.g. polyurethane) filler; a hardener for a resin to be subsequently added; and water. This mixture is mixed with a material polymerizable under heat and pressure, e.g. urea or phenol formaldehyde, poured into a suitably lubricated mould and coldpressed to a thickness slightly greater than the ultimate required thickness. The material then hot-pressed, the pressure released, and then further hot-pressed to form the final moulded element.
