1327139 Producing synthetic boards ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 16 Nov 1971 53206/71 Heading B5A In a process for producing synthetic boards liguo-cellulosic fibres or particles are mixed with a water containing phenolic or amino resin binder, compressed at a temperature of 60- 100‹ F. to form an uncured synthetic board substrate which is subsequently coated with a water-curable polyurethane composition containing free isocyanate groups, and compressed for at least one minute at a temperature above 200‹ F. to form a cured, coated board. The resin binder may be a urea formaldehyde resin, phenol formaldehyde resin or a urea-melamineformaldehyde resin, and may include a pigment. The water content of the mixture of cellulosic material and resin is 0À5-7% by weight.
