Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform multicolor printing without the spreading of color by selectively colorizing dyes by a method in which a heat-sensitive recording paper is made up using plural kinds of chromogenic dyes of different coloring temperatures and times and the energy density and applying time of electric signal to be applied are changed. CONSTITUTION:Two or more kinds of chromogenic dyes; that is, one is a high- temperature chromogenic dye and the other are a low-temperature dye colorizing at a temperature lower than the high-temperature chromogenic dye and also having a longer coloring time, are mixed and then coated on a recording paper. For example, three kinds of dyes A (red), B (green), and C (blue), having coloring temperatures of TR>TG>TB and coloring times of tR<tG<tB, are mixed and then coated on a recording paper to obtain a heat-sensitive recording paper. And, when applying an electric signal of high energy density to the resistor of thermal head for a short time, the high-temperature chromogenic dye A alone turns red, and also when applying an electric signal of low energy density for a long time, the low-temperature chromogenic dye B turns green. Also, in case where intermediate temperature and time between the dyes A and B are used, the medium-temperature chromogenic dye C turns blue.
