Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to conduct excellent heat transfer recording on an ordinary paper at low energy and with a high contrast by a method wherein a layer of a good conductor of heat nearly white in color is provided between a support member and a colored ink layer. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive color forming layer 1 is provided on the face side of the support member 2, and a heat-sublimable or hot-melting ink layer 4 is provided on the back side of the support member 2 through a heat conductive layer 3 to obtain a thermal recording medium 5. The heat-sensitive color forming layer 1 may be formed by using a known type heat-sensitive recording material such as a dyeing color forming type incorporating a dye precurser and a metal compound color forming type incorporating a metal salt of an organic acid. The heat conductive layer 3 is formed by coating a nearly white metal powder, e.g., a powder of Al, silver or the like together with a suitable binding agent. The sublimable ink layer 4 is made of a composition which consists of a coloring agent (a pigment, a dye, etc.), a binding agent, a softening agent and the like.
