Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible the use of plain paper and high speed printing by supplying current to the coloring material medium containing the dyes which are conductive and fuse at a specified temperature and transferring the fused dye material to printing paper. CONSTITUTION:A dye material film 2 containing dyes fusing at a specified temperature is coated in the state of being solid at ordinary temperature on a film 1 which is conductive and having a specified specific resistance, whereby a coloring material medium 7 is formed. Electrode members 300 thru 300 + n which are in contact with said coloring material medium 7 and selectively apply current thereto are provided. Current is then supplied thereto to selectively heat the coloring material medium 7 and liquefy the solid dye material and have it penetrated in the printing paper 6 in close contact with the dye material film 2, whereby it is permanently fixed. This constitution requires less power consumption, permits the use of plain paper and yet has high printing speed and durability and permits printing of fine characters and pictures.
