Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality hard copy capable of coloring, decoloring, or discoloring with a low power demand, by a method wherein a title paper is composed by holding an electrochemical coloring/decoloring material which colors or decolors due to an oxidation-reduction reaction and a solid electrolyte on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:As an electrochemical coloring/decoloring material, a material which colors, decolors, or discolors due to an electrical oxidation-reduction reaction is used. This material can be repeatedly used if the coloring and decoloring is reversible, and it can be used as an addition type electrochemical- recording paper if unreversible. As a dyestuff in use, a leuco dye having lactone ring can be used, such as triphenylmethane phthalide, fluorane, and azaphthalide group. On the other hand, a solid electrolyte in use ensures the conductivity of a chemical-recording paper, accelerates the oxidation-reduction reaction of the electrochemical coloring/decoloring material, exists in solid states at an ordinary temperature, and has a high electrical conductivity. As the solid electrolyte, a material obtained by dissolving an alkaline metal salt such as potassium chloride in a polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol and polypropylene oxide is available.
