Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A lactone coloring matter consisting of a pryridine-carboxylic acid cpd. of formulaI(wherein R1 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R2 is lower alkyl, benzyl, etc.; R3 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R4 is H, lower alkyl, etc; R5 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R6 is H or lower alkyl, etc.).
USE: The lactone coloring matter of formulaIis essentially colorless and excellent in storage stability, not decomposed or caused to develop color by incident sun light, water, oxygen, etc., but capable of quickly developing a dark color excelent in weatherability, light resistance, etc. on heating or contact with an oxidizing material, so that it is used as a coloring matter for marking a recording material such as heat-sensitive or prssure-sensitive suplicating paper.
PREPARATION: The lactone coloring matter of formulaIis prepd. by the condensation of a benzoyl-pyridine-carboxylic acid compd. of formula II (wherein R is H or lower alkyl) with an aniline compd. of formula III.
