Abstract
PURPOSE: To oxidize nitrogen in ammonia form and dithionates almost completely by adding a proliferation promoter of a sulfur oxidizing bacteria to the nitration process when a drain is subjected to nitrification and dentrification.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water 1 containing NH4-N, S2O6 2- after adjustment of pH and water volume is introduced into a nitrification tank 2, brought into contact with an activated sludge in the tank 2 and air is blown thereinto from a blower 9. At the same time, to promote the proliferation of sulfur oxidizing bacteria, a proliferation promoter 7 such as Na2S2O3 and Na2SO3 is injected thereinto. With an aid of the sulfur oxidizing bacteria, NH3 is rapidly nitrified to turn the dithionates to a sodium sulfate. Then, the waste water is sent to a dinitrification tank 3 where an organic carbonic source 8 such as methanol is added thereto and mixed with a blower 10 for denitrification under an anaerobic condition. N2 herein generated is dissipated into the air through a water sealed tank and a sludge-mixed liquid is sent to a sedimentation pond 5 via a reaeration tank 4.
