Abstract

PURPOSE:To make easy the maintenance and arrangement of input circuit and the failure detection, by turning off the common line of signal input in response to the control output of processor and turning on each signal input at a bundle. CONSTITUTION:The input section 1 of three-input and a processor 2 are provided with a digital input diagnostic section 3 having the functions to turn off the common line CL of the input section 1 and to turn on the input lines S1, S2, S3 at a bundle. In diagnosing the input section 1, the common line CL is off by the processor 2 by writing in ''0'' to the bit 0 of the output register TR and also to the bit 1 through the processor 2. When contacts SG1, SG2, SG3 are on, the bit 0, bit 1, and bit 2 of the input register RR are all a ''0''. Accordingly, in case of failure when the output of the gate G1 is fixed to high potential side, CL is off and the input is on at a bundle if fixed to low potential side, allowing to diagnose the failed bits for the bits written in the processor 2 for either ''1'' or ''0''.
