Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a diagnosis function featuring a low cost and high maintenance property for the input/output control unit IOC by securing execution of both the self- diagnosis and the external diagosis for channel interface CHI via the same diagnosis program.
CONSTITUTION: Writing command 2 and writing data 3 are set to writing diagnosis register 6 through IOC main control part 1. At the same time, reading command 4 is sent to reading diagnosis register 7 to be then transferred to CHIF control part 8 or external diagnosis unit 30. Control part 8 rceives CHIF signal 11 from receiver circuit 9 or recives false IF signal set to register 6, and sends IF signal 12 back to the channel through transmitter circuit 10 in the form of the answer or sends diagnosis register reading data 5 to main control part 1 via registor 7. When switch 13 is turned on, SW1WSW5 are turned toward the dotted line side to carry out quick and easy self-diagnosis. With switch 13 turned off, the strict checking becomes possible for the channel plus the transmitter/receiver circuits through the external diagnosis.
