Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform floating separation of sludge effectively and continuously without requiring any large driving power by bubbling the air dissolved in the sludge by making use of the evacuation generated by siphon effect thereby floating and separating the solids in the sludge.
CONSTITUTION: When valves 12, 14 are closed and a vacuum pump 10 is operated, an evacuation separating tank 3 is evacuated and sludge is sucked through a supply pipe 2 from a sludge supply tank 1. The air dissolved in the sludge is bubbled from the sludge sucked into the tank 3 in an evacuated state, and the particles in the sludge are absorbed by the these bubbles and while they are being floated and separated, the sludge is filled in the tank 3. When the sludge reaches to the valve 12 in the position below the level of the sludge supply tank 1 and the valve 12 is opened, siphone effect is produced by the weight of the sludge and the water level difference, and the sludge is supplied and discharged by siphon effect by making use of virtually no external force. Because of the evacuated state in the tank 3, the sludge is successively floated and separated, and the concentrated sludge is forcefully discharged by the cooperation of the siphon effect and the driving of a delivery device 11.
