Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the removal of sludge sediment and the clarification of others economically and sanitarily by a method in which pressurized water is supplied into a suction pipe provided at the bottom of a sedimentation basin to float sediment within a small range and the floated sediment is sucked up for removal.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge sediment near the suction port 2 of suction pipes 11W14 provided at the bottom of a sedimentation basin is drawn out by operating a sludge drawing pump 9 and then opening the main valve 8 and a suction valve 6. Then, the main valve 8 is closed, a water supply valve 10 is opened to send pressurized water to a suction pipe 1 to spout the pressurized water through the suction port 2, whereby causing the settled sludge to be agitated and floated. Then, in order to make easier the suction of the sludge agitated and floated, the main valve 8 and a water supply valve 10 are closed, a pump 9 is operated, and then the main valve 8 is opened to draw out the sludge which is in the state of causing sedimentation through the suction part 2.
