Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of an oil-water separating treatment and enhance the treating efficiency by a method wherein the scum resulting from the secondary or later pressure flotation treatment is returned into a raw liquid of oil-containing waste water.
CONSTITUTION: The emulsion-type oil-containing waste water in a raw-liquid pit 1 is fed into the primary pessure flotation tank 2 and then into the secondary pressure flotation tank 3. In this case, compressed air is blown from blowing pipes 4a and 5a into the line to generate air bubbles in the tanks 2, 3, and the bubbles with the oil components adsorbed thereon float up to form the scum. The scum is removed by scrapers 2c and 3c and is collected in scum tanks 2b, 3b. The scum removed from the secondary or later flotation tank 3 is returned to the pit 1 via a return pipe 7, while the scum from the scuh tank 2b for the primary pressure flotation tank 2 is taken out and the oil components therein are recovered. Meanwhile, the treated water devoid of the scum is discharged through a discharge pipe 6 and is recovered.
