Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate the oil contained in sewage (miscellaneous waste water) easily and efficiently by a method wherein the oil in the sewage is separated by floatation in the first separation chamber, the resulting upper layer rich in oil component is transferred into the second separation chamber and the floating oil is drained.
CONSTITUTION: The oil-containing sewage (miscellaneous waste water) introduced into the first separation chamber 2 through an inlet port 3 collides against a sewage stop plate 4, and the oil contained in the sewage is separated by floatation during when the sewage flows through the lower end part of the plate 4. The sewage deprived of the oil moves rightward as viewed in the figure through a screen 5, passes through an intake port 11 and is discharged into a digestion chamber via a sewage taking-out pipe 10. Next, the oil floating on the surface of the sewage in the first separation chamber 2 is fed to the second separation chamber 2' through an intake port 7, an oil drain pipe 6 and an oil transfer pipe 8 by an ejecting action of the air introduced through an air feed pipe 9, and the accompanying sewage is re-subjected to oil separation by floatation. When the oil on the sewage surface (b) in the chamber 2' reaches to a predetermined height, air is introduced via an air feed pipe 18 to provide an ejecting action whereby the floated oil is drained through an intake port 16, an air drain pipe 15 and an oil transfer pipe 17.
