Abstract
PURPOSE: To surely suck liquid up even if the liquid in a suction tank is lower than a reference level, by additionally providing an auxiliary chamber, which is connected to an air push-in means through an air conduit, in a pump system in which a pump without self-sucking capability is installed on the suction tank.
CONSTITUTION: The suction port 13 of a pump 10 is connected to a suction pipe 15 extending near the bottom of a tank 20. An auxiliary chamber 30, whose bottom is open, is provided in the tank 20 and airtightly fitted on the peripheral surface of the pump body 12. The cross-sectional area A of the chamber 30 and the sum of the cross-sectional area of the pipe 15 and that between the chamber 30 and the tank 20 are set as A≫a. An air conduit 40 is connected between the top of the chamber 30 and an air blower 50. When the liquid level in the tank 20 has become lower than the minimum level H1 for the self-starting of the pump 10, the blower 50 is driven through the action of a liquid pressure detection relay 60 to reduce the pressure of the chamber 30 to heighten the liquid level to the reference level H1 so that the pump 10 can perform the self-starting.
