Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively float and separate the solid matter in sludge and to concentrate the sludge, by using both the gas generated under reduced pressure and N2 gas generated by denitrifying reaction after dissolving the gas in the sludge added nitrate or nitrite under pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge is introduced into the pressure tank 3 after adding nitrate (e.g. NaNO3) or nitrite (e.g. NaNO2) to the sludge and compressed air is blown into from the compressor 2 and then, is dissolved in the sludge. Next, said sludge is introduced into the floation vessel 5 after transferring to the pressure reducing apparatus 4 such as valve, orifice and reducing the pressure. Then, a large parts of solid matter are floated sticking with air bubbles generated by reduced pressure in the vessel 5 and also, not floating part is slowly floated by the progress of denitrifying reaction. As a result, the sludge is effectively floated and separated and also, clogging of the tank 3 by the solid matter in the sludge, can be prevented.
