Abstract
PURPOSE: To condense a digested sludge with a high efficiency before its desiccation, by floating and separating solids from the digested sludge with use of gas dissolved in the digested sludge.
CONSTITUTION: During a process of facilitating a digestion of a sludge in a digestion vessel 1 under an anaerobic atmosphere, 50% or more of organics are decomposed into a gas, and a large volume of a gas mainly composed of CH4 and CO2 is generated and dissolved in the treated solution. The dissolved gas is vaporized and generates a lot of bubbles in accordance with the dissolution amount, when the digested sludge is carried through a line 3 having a pressure valve 2 into a floatation vessel 4 and released from the compression there. The bubbles adhere onto the digested sludge grains and promote the floatation of the sludge. As a result, the sludge grains swarm on a surface of a solution in the floatation vessel 4. These floating sludge grains are skimmed and carried to a dehydrator 7. The digested sludge may be introduced into a pressure tank 12, compressed there with a compressed gas, and carried to the floating vessel.
